Meet Dr. Joseph Yancho
Dr. Joseph Yancho (Dr. Joe) graduated from the University of Michigan in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, then continued his education in Ann Arbor, graduating in 2018 from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. While there, he served as Grand Master of the Delta Sigma Delta International Dental Fraternity, as well as the CEO of Victors for Veterans, a program dedicated to providing free dental care to veterans in need.
Serving in the United States Navy after graduation, he completed officer development school in Newport, RI and an Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Great Lakes Naval Station, IL. During his five year career in the Navy, he served as sole Dental Officer and Health Services Department Head aboard USS NEW ORLEANS, as well as a division officer onboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. His awards and decorations during service include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and others.
After service in the Navy, Joe returned to Traverse City to join his father in practice. Dr. Joe is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and currently serves as the president of the Resort District Dental Society, the regional affiliate of the MDA. He is an active preceptor for the University of Michigan’s United We Smile program, continuing to give back to children and veterans in need of dental care in northern Michigan.
