About Removable Dentures
Dentures are a solution to missing teeth. They can be complete to replace all teeth or partial to replace only a few missing teeth. Full dentures would consist of a full set of replacement teeth. Full dentures can be a set of top teeth, a set of bottom teeth, or even a complete set replacing both arches. Dentures are the most common form of replacing a full set of missing teeth and patients can talk to board-certified dentist, Dr. Phillip Yancho, about the benefits of removable dentures and implant dentures. When done properly, dentures at Yancho Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Traverse City, MI so closely resemble real teeth that no one will know they aren’t real. They can be made to be whiter or the same color as the patient's original teeth. They can be made straighter or made to look just like the teeth they are replacing. There are many benefits to getting full or partial dentures. Not only do they improve appearance and self-confidence by restoring your smile, there are some medical perks as well:
- Replacing missing teeth improves speech, chewing, digestion, and bite
- Helps to prevent other teeth from shifting
- Maintains the shape of the patient's face

"My parents took me here as a kid and I can't remember really ever having a complaint as a kid. After nearly a decade's lapse in dental work with no more parents' insurance and just all in all being anxious at the dentist and unable to ever calm my twitching muscles and nerves, I had some tooth pain and decay that was out of control and went with the cheapest option I could find on google's "Dentist's near me." I got what I paid for: A rushed job, treated like just another num...ber, stuck in the waiting room for an hour multiple times... I went back to Dr. Yancho after almost another year of hesitancy after that. What a world of difference. First off, for those just looking for this: When it's advertised as, "Pain free" this practice means it. I just had a total of 6 fillings done in the course of a month and didn't feel a bit of pain the entire time. The work is so well done that after the numbness wears off, even the soreness and potential pain you're expecting is minimal to absolutely nothing. And speaking of the work, it's so well done I can't tell where the fillings even are. My fiance commented immediately, "Oh, they look SO much better!" I'm thrilled with the outcome of finally getting in and getting this done. Outside of the chair, the hygienist team and front office and desk staff are all absolutely some of the nicest and friendliest people you'll interact with! They know what they're doing, keep everything moving fluidly, and make sure you know what's going on and are as comfortable as can be. They work with multiple insurances and hugely helpful to those without insurance: they accept Care Credit. If I'm getting dentistry work done for the foreseeable future, it's definitely going to be at Dr. Yancho's office. I highly recommend you do as well if you're on the search."- J.R. / Facebook / Feb 28, 2019
"Retiring to Traverse City from downstate required finding a new dentist. Dr. Yancho has been just the BEST! I would highly recommend him and his staff to anyone seeking a caring, pain free dental experience. I have had my share of dental work over many years and I can honestly say my experiences here have been the best ever. My three grandchildren go here as well and never complain about going to see Dr. Yancho."- C.L. / Google / Feb 06, 2019
"Dr. Yancho and his crew are absolutely fabulous! They are kind, thorough with exams, patient and compassionate. My entire family goes to Dr. Yancho and I would never dream of going somewhere else. I recommend this practice to everyone that I know. I have never met a dentist that is as concerned about our comfort during procedures as Dr. Yancho is. Going to the dentist can be a scary thing for many of us... but it's not an issue here."- J.K. / Facebook / Dec 15, 2018

What to Expect
Removable dentures are usually completed in 2 – 5 appointments with the dentist. Once the mouth is prepared for the dentures, the dentist will take molds of the patient’s mouth to send to the dental laboratory. While the custom dentures are being made, the patient will be given a set of temporary dentures to wear. Once the dentures are returned to the dentist, the patient will return to have their new dentures fitted and learn about proper denture care. The patient may need to return in 2 – 4 weeks so the dentist can re-check the fit of the dentures and the patient’s bite.
Removable dentures will need to be cleaned frequently, following the care instructions provided by the dentist. With proper care, removable dentures usually last 2 – 10 years. Patients should continue to schedule annual dental exams so the dentist can check the gums, any remaining teeth, and the condition of the dentures.
